Safety
Use Blood Pledge with the hospital.
Blood donation depends on clinical screening, correct blood handling, and qualified staff. Blood Pledge helps people reach one another; the receiving hospital or blood bank decides whether a donation can proceed.
If you need blood
- Contact the hospital or blood bank first and confirm the required blood component and group.
- Use the hospital as the request destination whenever possible.
- Do not publish a patient’s diagnosis, documents, identity number, or other medical details.
- Close the request as soon as enough help is confirmed.
- For immediate danger, use local emergency services and hospital channels.
If you may donate
- Read the request details before accepting.
- Tell hospital staff about your health and donation history during their screening.
- Do not donate if qualified staff advise against it.
- Meet at the named hospital or recognized blood facility. Do not hand blood to an unverified courier.
- Never pay someone for access to a patient or request payment for blood.
When a result says “Ask first”
This person has agreed to hear about nearby blood needs but has not confirmed that they are currently available. Blood Pledge sends the request privately. Wait for their reply before making plans.
